Week 9 2025 CGA Power Rankings & Week 10 Schedule:

The (+) or (-) next to each team relates to how far they rose or fell from the week before. Week 9 was characterized by consequential conference dual meets and an action packed international, intercollegiate contest hosted by Stanford.

The weekend began with a blowout at Illinois (312.55) where Penn State (321.75) took an early lead and never looked back. Illinois’ brightest moment over the weekend was their vault lineup where Matt Nguyen (14.25), Amari Sewell (14.25), and Garrett Schooley (14.25) put up huge vaults to sweep the podium on that event. Beyond that, Penn State was fully in control. Josh Karnes had another massive performance, winning event titles on floor (13.85), parallel bars (13.9), and high bar (13.85) to lead his team to another Big Ten regular season victory.

In ECAC action, Navy (312.4) snuck past William & Mary (311.8) in Williamsburg. This contest came down to the wire. William & Mary got off to an early lead, but struggles on pommel horse allowed Navy to take control. Isaiah Drake claimed two titles on the day, rings (13.7) tied with Aaron Stein (13.7), and high bar (13.3). For William & Mary, Sam Lee (14.2) showed a strong vault to win the event title. Luke Tully (76.55), once again claimed the all-around crown.

In Lincoln, Ohio State (321.45) fell to a surging Nebraska (325.65) squad in a Big Ten regular season matchup. Nebraska pulled away on pommel horse and never looked back. Taylor Christopulos (14.15) led a podium sweep on the event for the Huskers. Yianni Chronopoulos was the only two event winner of the day. On rings (14.25) Chronopoulos tied with teammate, Chris Heiser, and topped the standings outright on parallel bars (13.85). Ohio State’s Jesse Pakele (14.2) beat out teammate Kameron Nelson by half a tenth for the floor title. Nelson (14.35) went on to claim the vault title, and Kristian Grahovski (14.0) came up big on high bar to win the event.

The biggest meet of the weekend was the Stanford International Collegiate competition. Stanford had a handful of their top athletes, including Asher Hong, Taylor Burkhart, and Colt Walker competing for team USA while other members of their team competed for the Cardinal team score.

Stanford (325.1), expectedly surged past Cal (314.3) in a major improvement over the pervious week. Notably, Khoi Young (14.9)  made his return and topped the standings on pommel horse, defeating Canadian national pommel horse champion, Aidan Li (14.6). Brandon Nguyen continues to have a standout season. He led the way on both parallel bars (14.05) and high bar (13.55).

Rounding out the weekend, Greenville (310.05) traveled to Simpson (302.3) and won decisively. For the first time this year, Simpson cracked the 300 mark. Simpson’s Tristan Shorey (13.4) claimed the vault title, and Brian Rollison (74.2) edged past teammate Jake Smith (74.05) for the all-around win. For Greenville, Jaxon Clapper had a strong showing. His parallel bars (13.75) helped separate his team from Simpson and his vault (14.2)  finished behind teammate Ricky Mays (14.4) who won the title on that event.
