Start Up Resources For New Programs
Scheduling
Institutions will benefit from a strong community willing to support the scheduling needs of new programs. In the inaugural seasons for both Greenville University and Simpson College, the University of Michigan hosted both programs to kick off the season and the competition was broadcast on the Big Ten Network +.
Simpson College particularly has confirmed marque matchups in each of their first three seasons. Yr 1, Simpson College hosted the Naval Academy. In yr 2, Simpson College will host the University of Oklahoma and in yr 3 Simpson College will host the ECAC conference Championships.
Additionally, NCAA Men’s Gymnastics is the only NCAA sport that has been approved for virtual competitions. In partnership with Virtius, NCAA Men’s Gymnastics has been able to host quality contests virtually. This enables programs to compete against opponents nationally with minimal impact to an operating budget, critical during the onboarding phase.
Exposure / Attendance
NCAA Men’s Gymnastics is fortunate to have exposure through strong streaming platforms such as: BTN, BTN +, ESPN +. In their inaugural seasons, Greenville University and Simpson College participated in competitions that streamed on all three platforms providing strong nationwide exposure for their universities. As mentioned above, NCAA Men’s Gymnastics is the only NCAA sport approved for virtual competitions. This provides a unique opportunity to reach a broader audience while reducing travel expenses.
In addition to strong streaming potential, Men’s Gymnastics also continues to work towards stronger in person attendance. The average home meet attendance across NCAA Men’s Gymnastics was 673 with the highest program average of 1287 per home contest.
