Week 9 Power Rankings & Schedule

Consistency at the Top, Shake-ups in DIII Standings

Each week we’ll be releasing a “Power Rankings” that aims to provide a fluid picture of how each team across the NCAA is doing at the moment and where we see them heading. The (+) or (-) next to each team relates to how far they rose or fell from the week before.

March 10, 2023

The Sooners continued their 2023 campaign in typical fashion, putting up a (414.55) at home against Michigan to punctuate the consistency that they’ve put on display this season. Michigan was right behind Oklahoma with a resurgent (410.4) to kick off the second half of the season.

Stanford (410.2) hosted Illinois (399.4) and Cal (386.25) this past weekend, highlighted by our first look at Brody Malone in 2023. As the season wraps up, look for Stanford to start producing even bigger numbers.

William & Mary had a two meet weekend, traveling to Penn State and Navy where the Tribe put up a season high score of (386.0) against the Nittany Lions and a (379.7) in Annapolis. This momentum bodes well for the Tribe as ECAC championships are right around the corner. This conference could be anyone’s game.

Penn State (400.9) had a solid home performance as they rested some of their heavy hitters after a long week in Louisville at Winter Cup. Navy (393.1) also had a strong showing against William & Mary. The Midshipmen have had a very consistent season and currently top the ECAC. Momentum is in favor of Navy for a yet another ECAC title this year.

Ohio State came into the second half of the season in a big way as they faced off against Army at West Point. The Buckeyes (409.95) came away with a massive score and a win over the Knights (387.6).

One of the most exciting matchups of the season was a battle of the DIII programs. Springfield and Greenville traveled to Simpson for a quasi DIII championship. Greenville in their inaugural season with a roster made up almost entirely of Freshmen took home the title with a season high (384.75). Springfield was right behind the Panthers with a (381.05). Simpson rounded out the contest with a (357.55). All three teams will face off again at the ECAC Championships.

Below is a list of the meets coming up this weekend.
