Week 4 2025 CGA Power Rankings & Schedule:

Each week we’ll release a “Power Rankings” that aims to provide a fluid picture of how each team across the NCAA is doing at the moment and where NCAA men’s gymnastics experts see them heading. The (+) or (-) next to each team relates to how far they rose or fell from the week before. This year’s Power Rankings are developed with input from major gymnastics publications including the CGA Coaches Poll, Inside Gymnastics, and Gymnastics Now.

Big Ten regular season matchups began this weekend as of now Illinois and Penn State are the front runners for the regular season Big Ten title. On Friday night #2 Illinois (321.3) defeated #4 Nebraska (320.8) in Champaign. It was a close battle from start to finish. At the halfway mark the score was nearly tied, but in the fourth rotation the Illini pulled away and never looked back. A strong high bar rotation pulled the Huskers within striking distance, but ultimately the effort was not enough. Illinois’ Ian Sandoval claimed three titles, floor (13.6), parallel bars (13.5), and all-around (79.25). Nebraska’s Cole Partridge (13.6) led the high bar effort at the end of the contest and claimed the title for his work.

Action continued on Saturday with a big rivalry meet between Amy (311.9) and Navy (314.6). Isaiah Drake for the midshipmen was the star of the show winning three event titles - vault (14.3), parallel bars (13.15), and high bar (13.55). Maddox Pabellon for Army continued his streak of pommel horse (13.95) victories this season.

In another ECAC matchup this weekend, Greenville (308.35) took down Springfield (301.25). Greenville’s Matthew Roth put up a big routine on pommel horse (14.1) to help his team pull away. Greenville dominated pommel horse and parallel bars, leading to a decisive victory over their conference rival.

Michigan has had an uncharacteristically slow start this season. This slow start seems to have bled into the Big Ten regular season contests as Penn State (319.0) took down last year’s Big Ten champion Wolverines (313.9). Charlie Larson impressed on floor (14.35) yet again, but a disastrous high bar rotation led to a loss for Michigan. The parallel bars battle was one to watch at this meet however, with 4 athletes scoring above 14 - Evgeny Siminiuc (14.2), Josh Karnes (14.2), Paul Juda (14.05), and Matt Cormier (14.05).

#1 Oklahoma traveled to Ohio State to take on a Buckeye team with wind behind its back. The Sooners lowest score of the year (322.9) was enough to win over the home team (316.3). Ohio State’s Parker Thackston (14.5) deprived Oklahoma’s Ignacio Yockers (14.3) of his first pommel horse title of the season. Oklahoma’s high bar team led a late scoring surge, sweeping the podium on the event. Emre Dodanli (14.05) won out, Brandon Zepeda-Orth (13.8) followed, and Kelton Christiansen (13.7) rounded out the sweep.

To close out the weekend, Stanford (316.25) hosted Cal (309.15) and won easily even while resting some of their top athletes. Stanford freshman Cooper Kim showed great promise on floor (14.15). Cal’s Aidan Li put up a weekend high score on pommel horse (14.65), and Stanford’s Brandon Nguyen (14.1) impressed on parallel bars yet again.
