Week 5 2025 CGA Power Rankings & Schedule:
Each week we’ll release a “Power Rankings” that aims to provide a fluid picture of how each team across the NCAA is doing at the moment and where NCAA men’s gymnastics experts see them heading. The (+) or (-) next to each team relates to how far they rose or fell from the week before. This year’s Power Rankings are developed with input from major gymnastics publications including the CGA Coaches Poll, Inside Gymnastics, and Gymnastics Now.

Week 5 was all about conference matchups. For the ECAC William & Mary (299.25) battled it out with Army (308.55). Jojo Buselmeier won three event titles - floor (13.6), rings (13.1), and parallel bars (13.0). Luke Tully was the sole event winner for William & Mary with a spectacular high bar performance(13.4).
Big Ten regular season contests continued with a dual between Illinois (315.45) and Michigan (322.1) and a showdown between Penn State (232.85) and Ohio State (325.0). The Illinois vs. Michigan meet featured two Olympians in Fred Richard and Paul Juda. Richard was the star of the day, winning titles on floor (14.2) and high bar (14.7).The vault contest was odd as nearly everyone faltered except Charlie Larson (14.35) who put on a show! Logan Mckeown (14.55) put up the highest parallel bars score to date and Illinois’ Brandon Dang (14.8) dominated pommel horse.
Penn State Traveled to Ohio State where the stars of each squad, Josh Karnes for the Nittany Lions and Kameron Nelson for the Buckeyes, showed exciting routines to carry their respective teams. True to form, Nelson had strong floor (14.15) and vault (14.35)performances to win the titles on those events. Karnes also had an outstanding day winning event titles on pommel horse (13.8), parallel bars (14.35), and high bar (13.9)
Two MPSF contests also took place. Cal (312.35) lost to their host, Air Force (313.5). Patrick Hoopes (15.15) posted the highest score achieved this season on his specialty, pommel horse. Erich Upton also put on a big performance, winning both vault (14.05)and parallel bars (13.85). His teammate, Charlie Miles (13.5) showed an exciting high bar routine to win that event.
The most exciting contest of the weekend was undisputedly the tri-meet at Oklahoma (329.1) versus Greenville (308.8) and Stanford (328.8). The home team defeated the defending national champions by just three tenths and it came down to the last rotation. Olympian Asher Hong won three titles, floor (14.05), rings (14.85), and vault (14.35). Ignacio Yockers (14.65) finally claimed his first pommel horse title of the season. Brandon Nguyen (14.1) and Emre Dodanli (13.85) finished one-two on both parallel bars and high bar, Nguyen taking top honors on parallel bars and Dodanli the top spot on high bar.
