Week 1 Power Rankings & Schedule

Each week we’ll be releasing a “Power Rankings” that aims to provide a fluid picture of how each team across the NCAA is doing on a week-to-week basis and where we see them heading. The (+) or (-) next to each team relates to how far they rose or fell from the week before. 

This year’s Power Rankings are developed utilizing the NCAA coaches’ poll as well as input from major gymnastics publications including, Inside Gymnastics, Gymnastics Now, and Neutral Deductions.

The 2024 season kicked off in State College with a dual meet between Penn State and Army. The Nittany Lions (393.8) got the best of the Knights (370.45). Josh Karnes had a big day winning three event titles – Floor (13.5), Parallel Bars (14.9), High Bar (14.05). West Point’s Nick Lester won the All-Around with a 73.85.

In the second competition of the weekend Simpson and Greenville made their way to Ann Arbor to take on the Wolverines. Michigan came out of the gates full steam ahead this year with a team score of 404.9 to start their 2024 campaign. Simpson (366.0) impressed with a team score far above their season opener last year. Like Michigan, Greenville was ready to go this season. The Panthers put up a (383.5) and took home event titles on floor and Vault. Sophomore Zach Connelly (14.1) won floor and Freshman Logan Watterson (14.95) stuck his Kazamatsu 5/2 in his first ever NCAA competition to win vault.
