Week 9 Power Rankings & Schedule

Major Movement in the GymACT

Every week we’ll be releasing a “Power Rankings” that aims to provide a fluid picture of how each team across the NCAA is doing at the moment and where we see them heading. The (+) or (-) next to each team relates to how far they rose or fell from the week before.

This year’s Power Rankings are the top teams in each association based on the average individual rankings of three individuals:

Bailey Perez (former Stanford gymnast)

Ben Cooperman (former Penn State gymnast)

Max Soifer (former Washington gymnast)

NCAA

1. Stanford (-)

The US National Team was named this past Wednesday and 47% of the team is made up of current or future Stanford gymnasts.  The Cardinal also added two names to the Senior Development Team.  This is arguably the most talented roster ever featured in NCAA Gymnastics and it will be interesting to see just how powerful this team will be come postseason.

3. Michigan (-)

Like most teams this past weekend, the Wolverines had the weekend off with Paul Juda, Crew Bold, and David Willett competing at Winter Cup. Travel delays hindered the Michigan crew from showing routines during day one but the organizers let the three Michigan men compete during finals. While the Wolverine’s performances at Winter Cup were not as dominant as Stanford’s or Oklahoma’s, Paul Juda showed that he is a force to be reckoned with. Juda’s performance should be encouraging for Michigan as they look to push into the number two spot with a big showing this coming weekend at Army.
