Week 6 Power Rankings & Schedule
Movement in the Big Ten, Washington and Northern Illinois Make Strides in the GymACT
Every week we’ll be releasing a “Power Rankings” that aims to provide a fluid picture of how each team across the NCAA is doing at the moment and where we see them heading. The (+) or (-) next to each team relates to how far they rose or fell from the week before.
This year’s Power Rankings are the top teams in each association based on the average individual rankings of three individuals:
Bailey Perez (former Stanford gymnast)
Ben Cooperman (former Penn State gymnast)
Max Soifer (former Washington gymnast)
NCAA
1. Stanford (-)
We have now seen Stanford in action three times this year and have yet to see them dip below the 407 mark with a number of different lineups. They are ranked number one in the country on every event except floor and high bar, where they are ranked third. No matter how you look at it, this is an incredible team. They’ll be at home against Cal this weekend, looking to post yet another big number.
This weekend: California @ Stanford Sunday, Feb 13 at 4pm

2. Michigan (-)
Michigan comfortably holds their number two ranking after having this past weekend off. They are yet to out score that of number one ranked Stanford, but will have the opportunity to do so as they face off against their B1G rival this saturday, Ohio State. Strong contributions from Paul Juda and Jacob Moore will be key in their quest to the top.
This weekend: Michigan @ Ohio State Saturday, Feb 12 at 1pm

3. Oklahoma (-)
A week off for Oklahoma keeps them third in the power rankings. Nebraska’s strong performance over the weekend makes the Sooners current placement somewhat precarious. Mark Williams’ team will need to put up big numbers when they take on Illinois in Champaign this coming weekend if they wish to hold on to their placement.
This weekend: Oklahoma @ Illinois Saturday, Feb 12 at 5pm

4. Nebraska (-)
Standing firm in the number four spot is Nebraska after taking down Penn State in week five. When they execute, it is quite clear that the Huskers are amongst the top four teams in the country. They will have a week off before facing Oklahoma on the road; a true test of whether or not they can break into the top three.
5. Illinois (+1)
Illinois was able to rise to the occasion this past weekend, defeating Ohio State and jumping up to number five in the rankings. With Penn State right on their tail, the Illini will need to put forward a big score this weekend when they face off against the number three ranked Sooners if they want to retain their ranking.
This weekend: Oklahoma @ Illinois Saturday, Feb 12 at 5pm

6. Penn State (+1)
A season high performance (400.85) in Lincoln against Nebraska moves Penn State up one spot in the power rankings. Michael Jaroh continues to carry his team as they stay neck-and-neck with Illinois. The Nittany Lions’ loss to the Illini last weekend keeps them behind them in the rankings, but if they can show a level of dominance through the second half of the season, they could take over the fifth spot. Penn State has a long break before they take Ohio State on March 5th at home.
7. Ohio State (-2)
After a six point loss to Illinois and a strong performance from Penn State, Ohio State drops two spots in the rankings. Fortunately, they will have another shot at a Big Ten win this weekend when they host Michigan. If they are able to come even within striking distance of this impressive Wolverine team, the Buckeyes could jump back into the top five.
This weekend: Michigan @ Ohio State Saturday, Feb 12 at 1pm

8. Navy (-)
Navy’s strong 397.25 performance this past weekend was their best of the season by several points. They are on the brink of breaking the 400-mark, and doing so could help them jump in the rankings in the coming weeks. They will have the opportunity to break this mark at the All-Academy Championship this Saturday.
This weekend: All Academy Championships (Air Force, Army, Navy) Saturday, Feb 12 at 6pm
How to watch: TBD
9. Cal (-)
A solid showing (386.95) at the Pac-12 Invitational was not enough for the Bears to overtake Navy in the power rankings. Cal continues to sit at number number nine this week. With navy continuing to improve and flirt with the 400 mark, Cal will need to make some big improvements in order to jump into the eighth spot. Cal will have a chance to show their competitiveness this coming weekend when they take on number one ranked Stanford at the Big Flip Open.

10. Army (-)
After a tough loss to Navy, Army will pick things back up this weekend when they face the Midshipmen once again, along with Air Force. Seeing how this team stacks up against the Falcons will be an excellent indicator for how well this team can compete with the rest of the NCAA outside of the east coast programs.
This weekend: All Academy Championships (Air Force, Army, Navy) Saturday, Feb 12 at 6pm
How to watch: TBD
11. Springfield (-)
Springfield had the week off, keeping them in the number 11 spot. Their next opportunity to hit the competition floor will be on February 20th against Navy. If Springfield continues to trend upward, they may be able to challenge Army for the number ten ranking heading into the later half of the season.
12. Air Force (-)
A week off holds the Air Force Academy in 12th place in the week’s power rankings. Less than stellar performances have made it challenging for the Falcons to rise in the rankings. Hopefully for coach Josh Loeser, with the last two weeks off, Air Force will show a level of improvement when they take on Navy and Army at the All-Academy Championships this coming weekend.
This weekend: All Academy Championships (Air Force, Army, Navy) Saturday, Feb 12 at 6pm
How to watch: TBD
13. William & Mary (-)
The Tribe did not compete this past weekend and will not see action again until they face off against Army and Ohio State February 19th.
GymACT
1. Iowa (-)
After a week off, Iowa remains firmly in the number one spot in the GymACT. Evan Davis will lead the team back into action this coming weekend as they take on KC United, Minnesota, and Northern Illinois.
This weekend: Iowa, Minnesota, KC United, Northern Illinois Saturday, Feb 12 at 8pm
How to watch: TBD
2. Washington (+1)
Washington’s 363.15 at the Pac-12 Invitational wasn’t their strongest of the year, however, it helped them beat Arizona, bumping them to number two in the rankings. Luckily, the Huskies have several weeks off which will be used to refine their routines and improve upon lineup consistency as they head into the Sun Devil Classic on February 26th. However, they will need to see some big improvements in the later half of this season if they want the chance to challenge Iowa for the GymACT Championship.
3. Arizona (-1)
Arizona moves down to third in the rankings this week after a loss to Stanford, Cal, and Washington at the Pac-12 Invitational where they put up a 354.95. Distractions from a forced rebranding effort are clearly causing trouble for this talented Arizona team. AMG will need to make some significant improvements in order to remain competitive with Washington and Iowa for the GymACT title as the postseason approaches. AMG will be in action next at home for the Sun Devil Classic on February 26th
4. Minnesota (-)
After a significant improvement upon their debut in their last competition, Minnesota will look to continue making strides on the road this weekend.
This weekend: Iowa, Minnesota, KC United, Northern Illinois Saturday, Feb 12 at 8pm
How to watch: TBD
5. Temple (-)
Temple had the week off, keeping them in the number five spot. The Owls will not see any further action until February 19th against NY Alliance.
6. Northern Illinois (+2)
An improved NIU team made some strides this past weekend at the Illinois Team Cup, putting up a 348.60 to defeat UIC and move up two spots in the rankings this week. Continued performances of this caliber could result in NIU breaking into the top 4 in the GymACT standings. NIU will face Iowa, KC United, and Minnesota this coming weekend at the Iceberg Invitational in a contest that could shake up the standings.
This weekend: Iowa, Minnesota, KC United, Northern Illinois Saturday, Feb 12 at 8pm
How to watch: TBD
7. UIC (-1)
UIC dropped one spot in the rankings after a strong performance from Northern Illinois this past weekend. The Flames won’t compete again until March 5th.
8. SC United (-1)
SC United will not see any action until February 26th at the Sun Devil Classic.
9. NY Alliance (-)
A week off for the NYA keeps them solidly in the ninth spot. NYA has another weekend off before they face Temple on February 19th.
10. KC United (-)
KC United was off this past weekend but will compete again this Saturday.
This weekend: Iowa, Minnesota, KC United, Northern Illinois Saturday, Feb 12 at 8pm

11. Georgia United (-)
Georgia United will not see any action until February 26th at the Sun Devil Classic.
12. Rocky Mountain (-)
