Week 7 Power Rankings & Schedule
Every week we’ll be releasing a “Power Rankings” that aims to provide a fluid picture of how each team across the NCAA is doing at the moment and where we see them heading. The (+) or (-) next to each team relates to how far they rose or fell from the week before.
This year’s Power Rankings are the top teams in each association based on the average individual rankings of three individuals:
Bailey Perez (former Stanford gymnast)
Ben Cooperman (former Penn State gymnast)
Max Soifer (former Washington gymnast)

NCAA
1. Stanford (-)
Stanford continues to impress this season and retains their number one ranking after notching a season high score of 415.35. Khoi Young had yet another impressive performance, winning the all-around and taking home MPSF Gymnast of the Week honors. This Stanford squad is still far from their peak and will likely add more firepower to their lineups once Winter Cup is over in preparation for postseason competitions. The Cardinal will have a few weeks off before they take on Air Force and Cal at home on March 5th. However, be on the lookout for the plethora of Stanford athletes slated to compete at Winter Cup on February 25th-27th.
2. Oklahoma (+1)
After taking down Illinois on the road and Michigan taking a tough loss to Ohio State, Oklahoma finds themselves back in the number two spot. The Sooners will have a hard time finding themselves ahead of Stanford, but they can solidify themselves as the perennial number two ahead of the Big Ten. They will host Nebraska on Saturday in search of yet another win against the conference they have dominated the past several years.

3. Michigan (-1)
After a rather surprising 398.10 and a loss to Ohio State, Michigan drops to number three in the rankings. It was evident that a lack of consistency played a big role in their results, however, it is part of the game and will become even more important as we soon hit the later half of the season. Luckily, the Wolverines have had the 410 mark close in their sights this season, so they will have the opportunity to climb back up in the rankings on March 5th when they face off against Army and W&M.
4. Nebraska (-)
A week away from the action for Nebraska resulted in the Huskers holding on to their fourth place spot in the power rankings. If Michigan continues to falter as they did this past weekend against Ohio State, Nebraska could easily slip into the top three. Coach Chuck Chmelka and his team will take the floor again at Oklahoma this coming Saturday, February 19th.

5. Illinois (-)
A rough parallel bars rotation kept Illinois from taking down Oklahoma this past weekend. While the loss may be hard to swallow, it did prove that the Illini can hang with just about any team when they hit. Additionally, the stars are starting to step up. Reigning NCAA Pommel Horse Champion is now ranked fourth after a slow start to 2022. Hamish Carter now sits in second in the country on high bar, a huge boost on an event that is very difficult to score big on and could set Illinois apart come postseason.
6. Ohio State (+1)
After winning arguably the biggest upset of the season against B1G rival Michigan, the Buckeyes jumped a spot in the rankings to number six. With the help of their all-arounders including Jesse Tyndall and Justin Ah Chow, Ohio State was finally able to break the 400 mark with their 403.60. Heading into the weekend, the Buckeyes will be looking to improve upon their high bar performance as they will be challenged to uphold their ranking as they face off against Army and W&M.

7. Penn State (-1)
Rough past performances followed by a week off this past weekend led to the Nittany Lions moving down a spot in the rankings. The Buckeyes had something to do with this movement in the rankings as well. An upset win over Michigan and a season high score for Ohio State showed that the Buckeyes are contenders and are improving. Head Coach Randy Jepson’s team will have a chance to reclaim their top six spot on March 5th when they take on Ohio State at home.
8. Navy (-)
Navy keeps on rolling, most recently scoring their second highest mark of the season at All-Academy Championships. Unfortunately, they were unable to beat Penn State early on in 2022 and won’t face another Big Ten team until NCAAs. It is certainly possible for them to be in the mix with some of the top seven teams; we will just have to wait until April to see.

9. Cal (-)
The Cal Golden Bears remain at number nine after posting a 391.30 this past weekend at The Big Flip Open. They continue to struggle on rings and high bar which is greatly inhibiting their ability to rise in the rankings. This weekend they will be looking to put up a big score as they host Air Force at home. If they properly execute the competition, they could look to overtake Navy in next week's rankings.

10. Army (-)
A second place finish at the All-Academy Championships holds Army in the tenth spot in the rankings. A big all-around victory from Mathew Davis helped Army keep their spot over Air Force, who is right on their heels. Army will be in action again this Saturday, February 19th against ECAC rival, William & Mary, and Big Ten contender, Ohio State.

11. Air Force (+1)
Showing tremendous improvement this past weekend, Air Force jumps one spot after posting a season high 379.90. This was done while counting an outlier score below an eight, suggesting that there is still plenty of room for improvement from this group.

Springfield had this past weekend off, however, they drop to number twelve after Air Force topped their season high. Luckily, Springfield has the opportunity to earn their ranking back as they face off against Navy at home this Saturday.

GymACT
1. Iowa (-)
Iowa has cemented themselves as the dominant team in the GymACT. The scores that the Hawkeyes are putting forward would keep them ranked top ten in the NCAA power rankings. NCAA all-around All-American Evan Davis has shown that he is primed to lead this Iowa team to continued wins at GymACT competitions this season and he is helped by Sophomore James Friedman. Iowa will take on the top GymACT teams at the Sun Devil Classic on February 26th.

Standing firm in the number two spot is Washington after a week off. They will continue to rest until they are back on the floor February 26th.

4. Minnesota (-)
Minnesota continues to improve this season and holds on to their fourth place ranking in the GymACT standings this week. A team score of 363.70 this weekend puts the Gophers in striking distance of both Arizona and Washington. Minnesota will take on Iowa, Nebraska, and Illinois on Saturday, March 5th.
5. Temple (-)
Temple had the week off, keeping them in the number five spot. The Owls will take on NY Alliance next on February 19th.
This weekend: NY Alliance @ Temple Saturday, Feb 19 at 7pm
