Week 2 Power Rankings
Competition Picks Up After a Light First Week of Action
Every week we’ll be releasing a “Power Rankings” that aims to provide a fluid picture of how each team across the NCAA is doing at the moment and where we see them heading. The (+) or (-) next to each team relates to how far they rose or fell from the week before.
This year’s Power Rankings are the top 13 teams in each association based on the average individual rankings of three individuals:
Bailey Perez (former Stanford gymnast)
Ben Cooperman (former Penn State gymnast)
Max Soifer (former Washington gymnast)
With just five teams in action the first week of the season, week two rankings are relatively unchanged from where things were before the year kicked off. That will almost certainly change moving forward, with a total of twenty teams competing this weekend. Friday night’s West Point Open will feature Navy, Penn State, Springfield, Temple, and William & Mary. Saturday night will feature both the Rocky Mountain Open and the Windy City Invite. Arizona State, Nebraska, OU, Rocky Mountain, Stanford, and Air Force will be at the former while Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Ohio State, and UIC will be at the latter. To wrap up the week, SC United will take on California out on the west coast.
