Statement Regarding W&M's Decision to Drop Men's Gym

Gymnastics Community,

Yesterday we received heartbreaking news that William & Mary will be dropping their Men’s and Women’s Gymnastics programs. It cannot be written in words how devastated we are for the athletes, coaches, and alumni of the William & Mary program. It is very concerning that athletic departments continue to cut programs during financial struggles as a result of the COVID pandemic. Every year, hundreds of kids seek an opportunity to compete at the collegiate level and the number of opportunities continue to dwindle.

We will NOT stand for this.

Now, more than ever, our community MUST come together to protect the opportunities for future generations of gymnasts. The future of our sport will be determined by how our community responds to our current situation.

To help raise funds to support Iowa , William & Mary, and to ensure that no other programs are lost, the College Gymnastics Association will soon be rolling our the Stronger Together Campaign.

Standing together, alumni, current student-athletes, coaches, families, and friends in the Gymnastics community are a FORCE to be reckoned with. More information on the Stronger Together Campaign will be released very soon and we NEED the full force of our Gymnastics Community standing by our side!

Since an immediate call for financial assistance has never been more pertinent, the CGA has set up a donation portal and is ready to accept donations from the community today. Your donation will go directly into the college gymnastics growth initiative fund and give back to current and future programs. You can donate here today: https://collegegym.org/donate

Gymnastics has lived in the NCAA for nearly 100 years. Let’s Stand Together and keep it thriving for 100 more!
