CGA Hall of Fame

Get ready to witness history in the making! On April 20th, 2024, mark your calendars as the prestigious CGA Hall of Fame welcomes its inaugural class with an electrifying induction ceremony at the iconic Fawcett Center, nestled within the campus of the Ohio State University.

Prepare to be dazzled as we pay homage to the illustrious history of NCAA men’s gymnastics, honoring a class of legends whose excellence has left an indelible mark on our sport.

The inductees are the “Mount Rushmore” of NCAA men’s gymnastics. These gentlemen are the giants whose shoulders we stand on. They range from the trailblazing, Hartley Price who won four of the first five NCAA team titles to Sam Mikulak, the first Freshman to win the NCAA all-around title. In between are superstars like Price’s athlete Joe Giallombardo, the first ever NCAA all-around champion in 1938, and John Roethlisberger, a 7-time NCAA champion. Gymnastics heavyweights, John Horton, Blaine Wilson, Steve Hug and Jim Hartung are also members of this elite group. Penn State icon Gene Wettstone and his 1959 team also made the cut for their legendary performances. The late Kurt Thomas, the man responsible for bringing men’s gymnastics into the national zeitgeist rounds out this group of remarkable men.

The selection process for the Hall of Fame began with a committee of NCAA men’s gymnastics experts, a group comprised of people with strong knowledge of each era of NCAA men’s gymnastics. Each member nominated individuals and teams. From this list the committee voted and nominees with support from a minimum of two thirds of the committee move to a final round. The final round required another two thirds majority vote to become an inductee.
